New jobs are to be created in Suffolk following the award by ICI Paints of a £150m logistics contract to Transport Development Group plc in a further development of the companies' pan-European partnership. ICI has decided to outsource its warehousing and distribution activities and chose TDG as its major logistics partner in an eight-year contract. TDG already has sole supplier status with ICI Paints in France, handling a five-year nationwide warehousing and distribution contract worth more than £35m. The companies are also collaborating to evaluate a number of supply chain opportunities in Eastern Europe. As part of the new operation, TDG has acquired ICI Paints' warehousing facilities at Stowmarket and at Goole. To facilitate future business volumes, extensions will be undertaken at both sites and an additional 50 jobs created. TDG Logistics will assemble and deliver more than 125 million litres of decorative products to over 3,000 outlets and also undertake a number of added-value services. The company is one of Europe's premier logistics groups, with business units working across every aspect of the supply chain in every major European market. |
