Up to 150 new jobs are being created by New Wave Logistics as the company invests in a second major distribution centre at Grange Park in Northamptonshire. Within weeks of opening a state of the art 160,000 sq ft facility at Junction 15 of the M1, the company says it will be more than doubling storage capacity at the site with the commissioning of an adjacent building. With an initial investment of more than £3.5m to fit out - part of a £20m programme - the new 200,000 sq ft distribution centre will feature the latest storage equipment. There will also be a 10,500 sq ft mezzanine floor, two, 2-storey 10,000 sq ft administration offices and around 150 vehicles will be based at the site. The facility is scheduled to come on stream in January. The company is to recruit fork lift truck drivers, warehouse staff, HGV and LGV drivers as well as office and supervisory staff. Over the last two years, New Wave Logistics has added more than 500,000 sq ft of warehousing space to its UK network. As well as Grange Park, new facilities at Rooksley (200,000 sq ft) in Milton Keynes and Brackmills (100,000 sq ft) Northants, have also been opened. Malcolm Wilson, deputy managing director, said: As our business continues to expand - due to both the organic growth of our major customers and new contract wins - we will continue to invest in the latest high-quality facilities. The Japanese-owned firm is the driving force behind the distribution of many leading high street products for companies such as Blockbuster, Casio, Pioneer, Samsung and Sanyo. |
