A joint venture between Anglian Water and Mitsubishi of Japan has been named as preferred bidder for a $200m (£139m) concession to build and operate a water treatment plant supplying 2 million customers in Beijing. The 20-year concession would be the biggest international contract of its type in the industry ever to be awarded in China. Anglian had to beat strong competition from Japan and Europe. Weitek in Bedford has taken its first significant order in Australia, from the Ricegrowers Co-operative Ltd. At more than AUS$4 million, it is the largest order ever placed, not just in Weitek’s history but in the history of the whole Aetna group. |
