Two local growers are working together in an agricultural partnership, which is set to strengthen the region’s role as a leading producer of quality assured vegetables. Two local growers are working together in an agricultural partnership, which is set to strengthen the region’s role as a leading producer of quality assured vegetables.

Frederick Hiam Ltd has announced plans to work in partnership with Elveden Farms Ltd on a joint production programme - supporting the development of Frederick Hiam’s new £6m vegetable preparation and processing plant at Brandon in Suffolk.

The partnership is committed to combining traditional farming methods with innovative farming practices policies will offer customers a wider choice of top quality, traceable produce - including potatoes, carrots, parsnips and onions.

With a heritage spanning more than 75 years, family owned Frederick Hiam Ltd farms over 9,000 acres across Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Pembrokeshire. Elveden Farms’ rural interests cover some 22,000 acres in Suffolk and include some 3,000 acres of vegetables.

Frederick Hiam’s new 77,000 sq ft purpose-built factory - due to open later this year - will have capacity to process over 50,000 tons of vegetables a year, creating up to 240 new jobs.

Elveden Farms has just completed a £2.5m irrigation project and is working on a new £6.5m storage scheme.
