Q2 revenues were 34 per cent ahead at $20.5m (£11.78m) while pre-tax profit has soared to $3.77m (£2.16m) from $1.68m (£96k).

Six month revenues are up 23 per cent to just over $39m (£22.4m) while interim pre-tax profit has almost doubled to $8.17m (£4.69m) from $4.38m (£2.51m).

CEO Dr Mike Lynch said it had been a highly significant first half for the business, in terms of financial performance and strategic development.

“We have delivered record results from our core business whilst signing and completing a significant acquisition (etalk).

“At the same time, we completed and are extremely excited about our R & D project for consumer technologies and our Chinese web joint venture.”

This venture with China Netcom Broadband Corporation opens up a potentially massive new market to the Cambridge company. CNCBB is using Autonomy to bring next generation technology to the rapidly expanding consumer internet market.

It is the largest provider of broadband and fixed line connectivity in northern China with over 110 million customers – 95 per cent of the market – in an area which includes China’s capital, Beijing.

In a new deal, Avionics and Air EW Integrated Project Team, based at RAF Wyton, has chosen Autonomy’s technology to power an online knowledge exploitation program that will enable the intuitive management of existing knowledge to inform business practices.

RAF Wyton provides the principal home for Equipment Support (Air), the air pillar of the Defence Logistics Organisation.
