International telecommunications giant, France Telecom (FT), is to use Cambridge-based Autonomy’s IDOL server in an effort to enhance its overall technological capabilities. International telecommunications giant, France Telecom (FT), is to use Cambridge-based Autonomy’s IDOL server in an effort to enhance its overall technological capabilities.

The infrastructure software specialist’s technology will be used for retrieval, categorisation, collaboration and other functionalities within FT, a telecoms carrier with over 118.6 million customers in 220 countries and territories.

FT sales for 2004 stood at £31.5m. Autonomy’s share price rose 26.25 pence to 338.25p (8.41 per cent) on news of the deal.
