The new launch date will make Eos the first business class dedicated airline to fly from Stansted to the US and the first airline to make the transatlantic trip since Continental dropped its service in 2001. The date change was made possible after Eos received final certification from the US and UK Department of Transportation (DOT) to begin its service early.

Eos was due to make its maiden voyage on the same day as rival MAXjet Airways who itself had brought forward the launch date of its dedicated business-class service between Stansted and New York JFK.

David Spurlock, founder and chief executive of Eos, said: “Eos not only moved expeditiously through the government certification processes, but has now met with our own exacting standards, which will deliver on our promise to enable our guests to relax and revive.

The first flight will depart New York’s JFK airport at 7:05pm US eastern daylight time (EDT) and arrive in London Stansted at 7:30am UK time. The first westbound flight will depart London Stansted at 10:30am local time and arrive at JFK at 1:29pm EDT.

Eos will also offer a second daily flight between New York and London Stansted beginning 3 January, 2006. The flight will depart New York JFK at 9:15pm EDT, arriving London Stansted at 9:40am and will depart London Stansted at 4:15 pm local, arriving in New York at 7:14pm EDT.
