One of Britain’s most influential media figures has been snapped up by the board of Qm Group in Milton Keynes – a UK leading queue solutions provider. Kelvin Mackenzie, former editor of The Sun and recently departed chairman and chief executive of The Wireless Group plc, is to be non-executive chairman. He was introduced to the firm by Advantage Capital, Qm’s private equity backer. It’s a major coup for the MK based business which, since its formation in 1989, has become the UK market leader in providing effective queue management systems to some of the biggest names on the High Street. Mackenzie is also a successful entrepreneur, with over a decade’s experience of running large corporate enterprises, including BSkyB, the Mirror Group and, until recently, Talk Sport radio, which he helped to quadruple in value over a period of just seven years. Terry Green, chief executive of the Qm Group, says that Mackenzie’s experience, contacts and personal management style would be invaluable to the business in helping it to challenge its own business plans and goals as it continues along a path of consistently high growth. Qm Group advises such high street giants as Argos, Boots, Woolworths, Matalan, Tesco, Orange and HBOS Bank and has over 45,000 call-forward or barrier systems installed in their stores.
