One of the container terminals in the harbour of Gdynia in Poland has chosen a TETRA communication system from DAMM and Sepura to maximise the efficiency of its cargo handling. Gdynia recently embarked on a series of investment programmes to convert the terminal into a modern container-handling facility. The new communications system, which includes Sepura’s hand-held and mobile radios, is an integral part of this modernisation process. Gdynia, with a capacity of 750,000 TEU (Twenty Feet Equivalent Unit), serves the growing feeder-container market from Poland to major North European ports. It also acts as a transhipment hub for feeder-container services in the Baltic Sea, from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine.
