The technology and international team that drive Business Weekly’s superb digital newspaper has won a top award from software gurus in the Silicon Valley of India. Pressmart is a rapidly expanding digital publishing and archival technology that has pushed back the frontiers of electronic newspapers. Business Weekly’s e-paper is highly interactive with many state-of-the-art features enhancing online viewing for web subscribers. Now the software at the heart of Business Weekly’s digital newspaper has scooped the Special Jury Award for Product Innovation from HYSEA (Hyderabad Software Exporters Association), which represents the software industry in Andhra Pradesh. HYSEA’s members include DE Shaw, Mentor Graphics, Motorola, Satyam, Wipro, ADP, TCS, HSBC, Infosys, and Oracle. Pressmart has signed up with more than 50 leading publications worldwide to offer its digital publishing services and Business Weekly was among the pioneers. Ours remains the most influential B2B title using the technology. Since Business Weekly’s digital newspaper came online last August, Pressmart has clinched new wins with Trinity Mirror Midlands, World Association of News-papers and Reflex Publishing of UAE. Business Weekly’s digital paper is hosted at www.businessweekly.co.uk, attracting just under 2 million hits a month from some of the world’s biggest companies, universities and research institutes. The e-paper is managed in a JV between Cambridge and India. Business Weekly MD Tony Quested said: “Bodhtree Consulting, the company that owns Press-mart, operates from India and the US – two big markets for Business Weekly. “We were working on other projects involving two-way trade between India and the East of England when Bodhtree approached us; thanks to the internet, we are collaborating as smoothly as if we were next door neighbours. “The e-paper has helped drive web subscriptions and contributes to the kind of circulation figures via the printed and electronic versions of Business Weekly that other media can only dream of.” Bodhtree CEO Sanjiv Gupta said: “This award recognises our capabilities and the growth we have achieved in a relatively brief period with a small but highly efficient and result-driven team. We are proud of what we have achieved with Business Weekly.”
