Written by Business Weekly
Wednesday, 27 September 2006
The Port of Felixstowe is celebrating another record for the number of containers handled by its two rail terminals. Volumes reached an all-time high when 8,473 units were handled in a week, breaking the previous record of 7,983, set in October 2005.

Rail volumes are due to remain high for the coming months and further record-breaking volumes are possible in the run-up to Christmas.

The Port is holding talks with four leading train operators to secure an additional daily service to operate out of the Port.
