The training programme, set up by international development agency Trans-aid, had stalled because the training truck at the Industrial Training Centre in Lusaka had reached the end of its life and there were no funds to replace it.

Enter Transaid benefactors, MAN ERF UK, who donated an F2000 18.403 4x2 tractor unit and NYK Logistics who shipped the truck 3,000 miles, free of charge, via Jeddah to Durban.

A short onward drive to Lusaka in Zambia completed the trip.

Now Transaid can resume its programme to professionalise the commercial transport sector and bring better livelihoods, opportunities, safer roads and more efficient transport operations to Zambia and Malawi.

Chris Saunders, Trans-aid’s CEO said “Companies often offer to donate goods but getting them to their destination is equally important - without NYK’s intervention, MAN’s generous donation wouldn’t have gone anywhere.”
