The Stationery Office (TSO) in Norwich, publisher of official government documents for some 200 years, is to be acquired by Williams Lea in a deal rumoured to be worth around £130 million.
The acquisition is expected to go through within eight weeks and only awaits clearance from the competition authorities in Ireland and Germany. Once completed, TSO will continue to trade under its existing brand as the public sector division of Williams Lea, led by Richard Dell, TSO’s existing CEO. The takeover marks a new avenue of business for Williams Lea – already a leading corporate information solutions provider with over 7,000 staff worldwide. CEO Tim Griffiths said: “The acquisition of TSO gives us a pre-eminent position in public sector document business process outsourcing, a rapidly growing segment of the UK market.” Williams Lea already has a significant presence in the region following the opening of its flagship solutions centre for the UK at nearby Wymondham. The 70,000 sq ft, multi-million pound corporate information centre is the first of its kind in the UK and will act as a base for over 400 Williams Lea staff. |
