Mobile software innovator, Birdstep Technology, has pledged to continue operations at both its East of England facilities should the proposed $1.5 million (£0.77m) acquisition of US-based mobility software company Aramova Inc proceed as expected.
Norwegian-based Birdstep moved into Cambridge in April 2004 to set up a Symbian-focused SmartPhone research facility and should inherit Aramova’s European headquarters in Norwich by the beginning of February 2007. “The two facilities will continue as they do today,” said Robert Vangstad, Birdstep’s vice president marketing. “It is too early too comment on plans for future investment however as the last pieces of due diligence are yet to be finalised.” Petri Markkanen, Birdstep managing director, said: “The market for connectivity and mobility solutions has become a mass-market opportunity and consolidation of the vendor landscape has started. “The acquisition of Aramova Inc, a profitable and well regarded US based laptop connectivity company, is an important next step in Birdstep’s strategy to maintain its market leading position and it enhances our North American ambitions.” Birdstep Technology is a global software development, marketing and sales company offering seamless connectivity and mobility client software for mobile data users on laptops, pocket PC and Smartphones as well as state of the art embedded database technologies. |
