Herts-based pub operator JD Wetherspoon, has announced plans to open 30 new premises, creating 1200 new jobs during 2007.
The firm will add to its existing portfolio of 662 pubs with new outlets all across the UK including Sheffield, Bishop Auckland, St Austell, Hertford and Devizes with a final spend of £35m, accompanied by an additional £25m spent on its existing pubs. The company is confident that the implementation of the smoking ban will not affect the group's sales, “our non-smoking pubs have proven very popular and this has given us the impetus to open more pubs in 2007,” said Wetherspoon chief executive, John Hudson. |
