Peterborough-based business software firm, Business Control Solutions has warned that losses for 2006 will be slightly higher than expected. The firm said that while sales for the year are expected to be ahead of market expectations, the loss for the period is expected to be marginally higher than forecast, due to an accelerated investment programme. "The board is confident of the prospects for the year ahead," it added.

BCS' investment programme includes £3m raised through a placing in November 2006, which has been used to fund product development and hire additional sales and marketing and consulting personnel, according to the company.

The announcement shaved 3.85 per cent from the value of the firm's shares, dropping 0.25p to 6.25p.
