Kier wins £170m council contract

Harlow District Council has awarded Bedfordshire construction and services group, Kier a £170m PPP contract to outsource the town's council housing, streets and grounds maintenance.

The two have set up a joint venture company, Kier Harlow which will see around 370 council employees transferring to the PPP firm.

During the seven year contract, which carries an option to extend to ten years, Kier Harlow will be responsible for day-to-day repairs to 10,000 properties, environmental services and grounds maintenance.
