Offshore engineering firm, Aquaterra continues to ride the wave of success after landing a £360k contract to design, fabricate and install a drilling template off the coast of North Africa.
The Norwich firm, which has tallied up sales in excess of £7m since its formation 18 months ago, will make its first move into Tunisia with the work conducted for BG Tunisia’s Hasdrubal gas development site. Aquaterra was chosen for the project by BG, the largest gas producer in Tunisia, and the Tunisian National Oil Company (ETAP), after a successful tendering exercise. After forming in 2005, the company already plans to move into new headquarters, near Norwich airport. “They are certainly exciting times for such a new company,” said managing director George Morrison. Inspace people power Letchworth-based Inspace, a specialist service provider to both the social housing market and corporate arena, has won two contracts from Places for People, the UK’s largest housing and regeneration group, worth almost £42 million for major housing schemes in Beds and Cambs. The largest contract, worth £27.5m, involves regeneration of a neglected site next to the former Royal Train Shed in Wolverton, near Milton Keynes, by building 223 new mixed-tenure homes. The brownfield location, adjacent to the Grand Union canal, will see Inspace provide 133 homes available for outright sale, while 75 will be shared ownership and the rest affordable rent. A second contract is scheduled to be signed later this year to refurbish the 150-metre long Royal Train Shed and associated buildings to create a further 77 new homes and a commercial unit. The company also has a recent contract from Places for People worth £14.4m to build a large section of the new estate at Arbury Park, just north of Cambridge. Inspace will be responsible for 138 homes, which will be a mix of houses and apartments available for rent or shared ownership. |
