Gibbs and Dandy sees slight drop in profits

Luton-based builder's merchants Gibbs and Dandy has announced its full year results, reporting a nine per cent fall in pre-tax profit in what the company called a "far from easy" trading environment.

Pre-tax profit for the full year dropped from £4.42m to £4.02m this year, but turnover grew three per cent to £58.4m

The firm said that it expects modest growth in the repair, maintenance and improvement (RMI) sector in 2007, and like-for-likes in the sctor for this year were up 0.6 per cent.

The news caused the firm's shares to shed 4p, leaving them at 390p.
