Boult Wade Tennant was presented with the award for ‘UK Patent and Trade Mark Firm of the Year 2007’ at the Managing Intellectual Property Global Awards ceremony in London.
Bruce Alexander, senior partner at Boult Wade Tennant and one of the partners at the firm’s Cambridge office, said: “The firm has grown during the past year, particularly in the Cambridge office where we’ve acquired some major new clients and have been advising and protecting innovation across a wide range of technologies. “2006 saw our office expand its trade mark team and add a patent team with electronics, physics and telecommunications expertise.” The Managing Intellectual Property (MIP) Awards are designed to recognise leading intellectual property firms in the major jurisdictions worldwide. The awards are based on the views gathered from solicitors, intellectual property attorneys and in-house lawyers worldwide. The ceremony was attended by private practice and in-house lawyers from a range of jurisdictions. Boult Wade Tennant had also topped the UK Trade Mark Table, just published by MIP, as part of its annual intellectual property survey. Boult Wade Tennant was the only firm in the Top Tier of the UK Trade Mark Prosecution table. “Our Trade Mark and Domain Name practice took on some substantial trade mark portfolios,” said Alexander. “We’ve also been handling a range of contentious matters, some requiring assistance from Trading Standards Officers, others involving appearances by our partners before the UK Trade Marks Registry and several which have led to very significant trade mark High Court actions and appeals. “The year has also seen our team resolve a number of high profile domain disputes”. Boult Wade Tennant opened its Cambridge office in 2004. The office has resident attorneys with engineering, materials, electronics and IT, life science, physics and chemistry and trade mark expertise.
