The MK based telecoms innovator, Followus, has signalled itself as one to watch when it debuts on the AIM market this week.
Followus has developed a web portal that allows employees, assets or family members to be tracked on a pay-as-you-go basis using just the SIM card in their mobile phone. Although the MK firm is not raising any new capital through the placing, it is using it as an exercise to raise its profile with City institutions and as a platform for future growth. The company already has 80,000 subscribers for the service, ranging from SMEs to large corporate, as well as private individuals. Management believes the market could be worth £452m by 2010. The technology was recently used by the BBC’s Watchdog programme as part of an undercover sting, while its GPS tracking technology is being used as part of an NHS trial to track people with dementia. |
