Cambridge-based blinkx plc has now landed contracts with three of the world’s five leading internet search engines following a major deal with Ask.com to power the firm’s video search capability.
blinkx, which spun-out of industry infrastructure specialist Autonomy and listed on the London Stock Exchange less than one month ago, has now had MSN, Ask and AOL on its books as well as Lycos, and InfoSpace in Europe. Ask.com claims to have a four to 10 per cent cut of the global internet search market and like blinkx is strong in the secondary or ‘syndication’ market where they power search for others. It will use blinkx to do a straightforward white-label search through a blinkx search box on its site. blinkx will generate revenue from this relationship through video searches undertaken by Ask.com users. blinkx has also announced a content partnership with global entertainment company, Ministry of Sound TV (MoSTV), the first digital content provider for dance music entertainment. |
