Alconbury-based gene-to-protein firm, NextGen has announced an 83 per cent boost in gross profits, up to £964k for the year ended December 2006, on the back of a 40 per cent increase in turnover.
The firm, which raised a quarter of a million through a placing earlier this year, said that gross profits had risen from £525k to £963k for last year resulting from the introduction of its ‘contractexpress’ fee-for-service business. It added that turnover for the consolidated group had jumped just over 40 per cent, from £1m to £1.4m, while operating costs had increased by 27 per cent. Shares in the group shot up almost nine per cent, gaining 0.04p to 0.5p.
