SoC designer, Imagination Technologies has announced a collaboration with UBC media to develop a system to provide DAB listeners with the ability to purchase music direct from their digital radios.
The deal, financial details of which were not disclosed, will see Imagination bringing devices to support UBC's ‘Cliq’ instant music purchase technology to market through its PURE Digital division and providing technology infrastructure on which the service will run. DAB listeners will be able to buy music from selected stations while listening to the radio, acknowledging radio's ability to encourage music purchase, the firm said. It is expected that UBC and Imagination will share revenues on music bought through digital radio devices involved in the collaboration which support the service. Imagination said that it would make further announcements on the technology at a later date. “This co-operation will allow both PURE Digital and other major brands that use Imagination Technologies’ digital radio platform to take digital music download to the next level,” said Imagination's CEO, Hossein Yassaie. The firm's share price has shown a gain of over four per cent in value, rising 5.75p to 138p. |
