Chelmsford cable specialist, Global Marine Systems, is to construct a powerful subsea broadband link between Indonesia and Singapore to help meet the explosive growth in bandwidth requirements for broadband multimedia applications such as 3G-international backbone and high speed internet. PT Moratel Indonesia has selected Global Marine for the Moratelindo International Cable project - System 1 (MIC 1) which covers both terrestrial and submarine construction of a 70km (43 mile) fibre optic cable designed to have a minimum capacity of 10Gbits that will run from Indonesian island, Batam, to Singapore.
Global Marine will use its Networker vessel with work beginning immediately as the system is scheduled to be operational in Q1 2008.
The installation of this repeaterless system is inline with Moratel's plan to roll out their domestic and international fibre-optic and microwave based network, in order to expand its business interna-tionally and to strengthen its position as a key telecomm-unication, Voice and Internet Manage Services provider. |
