Making waves: Fairline is powering forward with its expansion plans Sailing above any fall-out from the credit crunch, an East of England boatmaker is using its advance orders of £100m to drive forward a £7m manufacturing facility in Oundle.
Northants-based boatmaker to royalty and the stars, Fairline, has secured over £100m in advance orders for its luxury yachts and is using its success to further expand the company.
It is on course to complete a £7m factory at its Nene Valley site in the New Year.
It is also advancing proposals to build further administrative facilities over the next few years and is talking through the strategy with local planners.
It would seem that not everyone in the world is concerned about the stability of the financial market, as the company, which designs and manufactures luxury boats with multi million pound price tags, said that it had passed the magic £100m advanced orders milestone for the first time in its 40 year history.
“We have seen increased demand for the Fairline brand over the last 12 months,” said sales & marketing director, James Robinson.
“Sales at autumn shows form an important part of the annual order book and we are confident our current range will continue to attract high demand.”
Fairline employs over 1,300 staff, currently manufacturing boats at existing factories in Oundle and Weldon, mainly for export around the globe to the world’s mega-rich.
It also has test facilities in Ipswich and a United States sales office based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Seven orders for its flagship model, the Squadron 78, which is valued in excess of £2m, have been received in the last two months alone.
Robinson said: “We are seeing constant demand for our 11-boat range across the globe, exemplifying the Fairline brand’s position in the luxury performance motor yacht market.”
The marketing team are currently attending the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, showcasing the East of England brand.
