S![]() The initial Isotrak installation encompasses 200 vehicles, delivered from September. This is the first phase of a fleet-wide roll-out by Asda that will eventually include its entire 1,000+ tractor unit fleet. Isotrak offers a complete in-house ‘aftermarket’ installation service for existing vehicle fleets, but, in this case as Asda already had new vehicles on order with Scania, using the special vehicle options facility at the production plant provided significant cost and convenience benefits. “We expect to see a rising trend in production-line fitting of telematics and tracking equipment, due to the cost and convenience benefits it confers, as more and more companies adopt high-tech transport management solutions to help improve efficiency and reduce carbon footprint,” said Craig Sears-Black, Isotrak’s sales & marketing director. Asda commissioned Scania to install Isotrak’s GPRS/GPS track and trace unit, CANbus adapter interface, driver data terminal and communications microphone/speaker, as part of a package of special options to aid the supermarket’s migration to Isotrak’s Active Transport Management System (ATMS) announced in July. |
