A Texan-owned telco has set up
a new operation in Peterborough and plans to create a significant number of jobs in a
three-year growth plan.
Traxe Global Services, a subsidiary of Xtera Communications based in Allen, Texas, worked with East of England International to identify suitable premises from which to service the UK and the rest of the world. The move to Accent Park in Orton Southgate has initially created eight new jobs but more are in the pipeline. The new company was created by Xtera's acquisitions of two business streams from Alan Dick UK. It employs 25 office staff with a flexible team of around 100 field-based engineers depending on demand. The new jobs created are in finance, HR, helpdesk support and project co-ordination. Traxe Global Services has a prestigious portfolio of clients that includes network operators such as BT and Cable & Wireless, along with blue chip equipment manufacturers like Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Fujitsu and Motorola. Traxe network operations engineers install and commission a variety of telecoms equipment in the UK and abroad. The company is actively engaged in BT's 21CN network trans formation programme, as well as installing broadband multiplexers and routers in BT exchanges on behalf of the larger ISPs. Traxe also installs hi-specification fibre optical equipment globally for Xtera. The First Line Maintenance team offers a 24/7 helpdesk and a team of UK-wide field engineers providing first-line technical support for a variety of telecoms and IT customers. Paul Crofts, Traxe's general manager, said: "We considered a number of options before deciding on Peterborough. The premises are ideal for the current size of our operation and our dynamic three year growth plan. "Other factors also came into play such as the excellent infrastructure and the well-established telecoms cluster." |
