![]() Business Telecom's new operations manager Carolyn MacDonald (right) talks over the move to the new HQ with call centre manager Clare Goforth The move is part of a five-year plan which will see its call centre team rise from 36 to around 240 by 2011. The company expects to switch from its existing premises early next year to a former travel agents’ call centre near the town’s Haven Bridge. “It’s a great move for us and it comes at an exciting time for Great Yarmouth,” said chairman Chris Fox. He founded the business with his wife Theresa from a room in their Norwich house in 1999 and then expanded to their first base in Great Yarmouth in 2001. But the rapidly expanding telecoms operation outgrew its first office and now needs to move yet again to spread its wings further. “We are happy to be investing this amount of money into our future and into Great Yarmouth,” said Fox. “The town is on the up and we want to be part of it.” Business Telecom provides telephone systems for SMEs and has a significant market in the education field. Managing Director Paul Temple said the company presently covered about a third of the country but aimed to be a national force by 2011. “It is part of our five-year growth plan. Every business needs a telephone system and we want to expand to give ourselves a national footprint. “We have 3000sq.ft of premises in Great Yarmouth at the moment; the new building will give us 12,000sq.ft and we aim to fill it. We are looking to expand by acquisition as well as organic growth.” |
