A ground-breaking academic from the University’s Judge Business School has been honoured for his work on climate change.
Dr Chris Hope, University Reader in Policy Modelling at the Judge Business School, was selected to receive the ‘2007 Aspen-EABIS Lifetime Achievement Award’ in recognition for over 15 years of ground breaking work on climate change. Hope played a crucial role in developing the PAGE (Policy Analysis of Greenhouse Effect) model which is used to calculate the financial cost of global warming. The system was a major part of last year’s influential ‘Stern Review on the Economics of Climate Change.’ The Stern Review was an independent and comprehensive analysis of the economic aspects of climate change. The review showed convincingly that the benefits of early global action to ease climate change will be far greater than the costs. |
