Shares in the carrier are not taking off
Shares in budget carrier, easyJet have fallen by over ten per cent drop despite the company's recent traffic report, detailing a ten per cent rise in passengers this December.

The Luton-based carrier saw almost 55p drop from its share price after the market expressed its disappointment in easyJet's figures for December, announcing that it carried 9.9 per cent more passengers last month compared with December 2006.

easyJet said it carried 2.89m passengers last month compared to the 2.6m that flew on the airline during the same month in 2006. It said that traffic for the whole year had increased by over 13 per cent, growing to 38.23m passengers from 33.67m for last year.

The firm's load factors were possibly the source of discontent for the market, which at 78.9 per cent showed a drop of 2.2 percentage points over last year's figures for December.

Analysts called the numbers passable, adding that easyJet  is expected to perform steadily over the coming year, helped by its recent GB Airways acquisition.

Shares in the firm have dropped by over ten per cent, falling 54.5p to 480p.
