Full year profits up at Xaar

Inkjet printing specialist, Xaar has posted a 13 per cent increase in revenues to £47.9m, in a trading update for the year to the end of December.

The Cambridge-based firm said that pretax profit was around £7.3m for the full year, up from £6.9m last year on the back of a 13 per cent increase in revenues to £47.9m.

Xaar said that the take-up of its Platform 2 products remained slower than originally expected during the period, but that there are now a significant number of evaluation kits for the Platform 3, Xaar 1001, on test with existing and potential customers. Several equipment launches incorporating the printhead are expected in 2008.

The company said that after several years of rapid growth, third party forecasts now suggest that demand in the company's core graphic arts market will mature to a steady annual percentage  growth rate in high single figures, while forecasts for the newer Platform 2 and Platform 3 products suggest demand will build as the year progresses.

Shares in the firm saw a marginal rise of 1.5p to 165.5p.
