The agriculture and rural business team at East of England law firm, Hewitsons, has welcomed the £125 million of extra funding on offer to rural businesses from Defra and the EU, which it says will help to promote diversification in Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire and Essex.
“Many farmers, who endured a difficult 2006 with Bluetongue and foot-and-mouth disease, have had to use their land for other projects to produce additional income,” said Gareth Williams, a member of Hewitsons’ agriculture and rural business team, which has offices in Cambridge, Northampton and Saffron Walden.
