Louise Rushworth The GCP, working with St John’s Innovation Centre, has recently appointed Louise Rushworth as the area’s first international relations manager.
Louise’s first task was to establish the new Greater Cambridge International Relations Forum with inaugural chairman Chris Parkhouse, managing director of UK/US consultancy Deyton Bell and chairman of Cambridgeshire Institute of Directors.
Within the first six months the group has created a range of ‘collateral’ for use by GCP ambassadors when abroad including a presentation, fact cards and welcome pack for business visitors. There will be a launch event to promote this new material and a new brand for Greater Cambridge on March 13. Contact the GCP for details.
A dedicated international section has been created in the new GCP website, which is at www.gcp.uk.net/international.php, which highlights reasons why people invest here, and the benefits and opportunities available to organisations thinking of relocating to the area.
Key recent inward investment into the area includes Kodak, Nestor Pharmaceuticals and Nokia Research.
The website covers questions commonly asked by overseas visitors including:-
How did the State develop the high-tech cluster? What are the key technologies? What else can I see in Greater Cambridge on my visit? How does industry and university collaborate?
Louise Rushworth, international relations manager for the Greater Cambridge Partnership says: “Delegates from the Far East, the US, the Middle East, India, Australasia and, of course, Europe, are showing an interest in our area. The website should provide a valuable initial resource for both prospective visitors and host organisations.”
The Greater Cambridge Partnership is keen to continue economic development activity by attracting key overseas organisations to the area.
New information on the website includes sections on ‘why to locate here’ as well as economic facts and figures, a description of the Cambridge Phenomenon and what makes the area such a success.
And if you’re an overseas company wishing to find out more? The site also highlights the range of business support available to you should you decide to relocate or establish an office here, such as that provided by the regions inward investment agency, East of England International, and importantly, how to get here and who to contact if you’d like to make that first step.
• Visit the Greater Cambridge Partnership international relations website, which is at www.gcp.uk.net/international.php and see what is available to you and your business!
