Researchers from Essex have uncovered a panel of protein biomarkers that could lead to better diagnosis of tumour types and improved treatment for cancer sufferers.
Led by Dr Metodi Metodiev of the University of Essex’s Proteomics Unit and backed by Dr Louise Alldridge from Anglia Ruskin University, the scientists have examined thousands of proteins in tumour and normal human tissue. They are narrowing down the findings to see what patterns emerge before a large scale clinical trial can be attempted.
