Tom Owen, the retail specialist at Cheffins, has been instructed to sell the double fronted shop of the internationally known Jess Applin Antiques on Lensfield Road, opposite the Catholic Church in Cambridge.
Unusually, this Grade II listed building is being offered for sale freehold with vacant possession. Offers in excess of £300,000 are invited. The building is thought to date from the 1600s, built originally as farm workers’ cottages beyond what was the city boundary. The property is over three floors with a total area of 867 sq ft. Owen says that the upper floors could be used for residential, subject to planning as the two front entrances allow self-containment of the ground and upper floors. The owner, Jess Applin, has been trading in the premises for some 35 years. He says that he will continue in the antique and fine arts business acting for clients and on-line. Tom is also handling a self contained, lock-up shop in King Street, a popular and vibrant retail parade which has enjoyed a major revival in recent years and has attracted a diverse range of operators including Giulio, Radar Fashion and Blu Max Shoes. The period shop provides 562 sq ft on two floors and is offered on a new lease at £10,000 p.a. exclusive. A third property in his portfolio is 22a Magdalene Street, a prominent period property with double frontage providing 458 sq ft of space. This is good secondary trading location, opposite Magdalene College and close to the river Cam, on a popular tourist route between Magdalene Bridge and the Folk Museum. It is offered on effectively a fully repairing and insuring lease for a term to be agreed, at an initial rent of £16,000 p.a. exclusive. One proviso is that food trades are excluded as occupiers. • For further information on any of these retail units contact Tom Owen on 01223 213666 or email: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it |
