Retail point-of-service specialist, Torex, believes a new venture with a US engineering provider will enable it to double in size over the next two years as it launches an intense attack on the North American market.
The Bedfordshire company has teamed with Symphony Services in Palo Alto, California, to develop expanded solutions offerings, with a particular focus on its North American footprint. Torex chief executive, Graeme Cooksley, said the deal would enable the firm ramp up development fast whilst maintaining quality as it seeks to expand more markets internationally. “We are now moving development to a new level. “We want to double in size in the next two years and needed capacity in a hurry with flexibility and have been extremely busy ramping up operations in last three months.” The US accounts for just 10 per cent of Torex’s revenues at the moment and has enormous potential for the firm who has a deep belief in its products’ quality. “The US is the biggest retail market worldwide and the next range of Torex products have outstanding potential,” said Cooksley. “We have leading edge solutions and quality products and international customers.” Torex employs 2,100 staff across 19 countries and is also expanding its two principal UK locations, Bolton and HQ Dunstable where it is about to open a new building with enough capacity for 250 staff. Its systems cover every aspect of retailing from in-store point of sale and merchandising, to back office planning and scheduling, to head office performance and productivity management. |
