![]() Skating to new business in Asia: Sports Coatings had its systems used for the first time in a skating rink in this Korean project Sports Coatings design and manufacture specialist materials used for hard and cushion-floor surfaces for indoor and outdoor sports pitches. The contract for the business in Korea resulted from the company attending an international Sports Industry exhibition in Cologne where technical sales manager Duncan Wilson made contact with a Korean company specialising in the construction of sports facilities. The project in Korea is the Paju public sports and recreation facility in Seoul. It provides hard surface multi-use games areas, tennis courts and an in-line skating rink – in-line skating being very popular with young people in Korea. The Sports Coatings surface system Proflex Hardcourt was specified for use throughout the centre and installed under the technical guidance of Sports Coatings UK staff. Wilson said: “The Proflex system is easy to apply. “However we always offer to be on hand to provide technical support to contractors and in this case, it was the first skating rink where our systems have been used.” The success of this initial project for Sports Coatings has led to orders for three further installations at sports centres in Seoul.
