Medtech move earns plaudits for ERBI

ERBI’s expansion into medical technology got the thumbs up from business leaders in both the bio and medtech sectors at a launch event at Cambridge Science Park.

Representatives from ERBI’s existing bio membership met for the first time with members of its new medtech network to discuss issues of relevance to each sector.

Stuart Henderson of Deloitte, a long term supporter and founding sponsor of ERBI, was among the speakers who addressed the medtech companies at the meeting.

Henderson said: “Merging the activities of the former Medilink East into ERBI makes a lot of sense – not just because of the growing convergence between bio and medtech but also because so many of ERBI’s activities are as relevant and beneficial to medtech businesses as they are to biotechs.”

ERBI’s recently appointed Medtech director, Barnaby Perks, added: “There was a real buzz of excitement. Having the backing of all members is crucial for the future success of ERBI and the launch event clearly demonstrated that our biotech members endorse our expansion into medtech.”
