Voice-to-Screen messaging pioneer, SpinVox, has announced its appointment of a world-renowned academic to lead its new Advanced Speech Group (ASG) centre in Cambridge, writes Alexander Robinson.
The company, which specialises in speech and voice recognition, has taken on an as yet unnamed Cambridge University guru as director of the new centre, being set up in Histon. Business Weekly knows his identity but has agreed to delay naming him. We can say that he has previously provided SpinVox with expert advice on its advanced speech technology. The new team will include some of the firm’s existing employees at the company’s Automated Speech Recognition headquarters in Marlow, Bucks. The academic’s remit will be to further build a world-class team from the ASR expertise that is concentrated in the Cambridge area. Under his leadership, the SpinVox ASG will further develop the Voice Message Conversion System that is at the heart of SpinVox services. The academic is an established, internationally-known academic, originally working at the University of Cambridge, who has successfully made the transition to entrepreneurship. He was formerly the founder and owner of two major businesses in the region that were involved in high accuracy real-time speech recognition in challenging environments
