Strong demand for serviced office space in Cambridge pushed
the city into the Top 20 commercial property hotspots of
2007, outside of London, according to officebroker.com.
Central & Greater London and the commuter towns along the M4 corridor featured prominently. Cambridge made it to number 11, reflecting the strength of demand for serviced office space in the city. "Cambridge continues to thrive as a business destination, helped by its strong knowledge based economy, proximity to London and situation in the heart of the East Anglian countryside," says Jim Venables, MD of officebroker.com. "The A14 has boosted the city's east-west transport links and the resulting demand for serviced office space in the area has allowed its providers to charge a premium. We saw 2007 revenues in Cambridge increase by 88 per cent on 2006 figures." John Spencer, CEO of MWB Business Exchange, Cambridge, added: "The Cambridge market has been booming, due in part to the influx of wealth management companies that have recognised the pool of entrepreneurs based in the area. "On top of this, IT companies, and in particular, software companies, have been expanding rapidly and this is where we expect the growth to come from in 2008." ? Looking for new premises?
