Gladman Developments has completed the main phase of construction on a
speculative £18 million, 200,000 sq ft industrial and distribution
development on the A14 at Saxham, near Bury St Edmunds. The developer has built two speculative distribution warehouses of 140,000 sq ft (G-Space 140) and 58,000 sq ft (G-Space 60) on a 12.11 acre site at Saxham Business Park. The scheme is expected to help create around 200 new jobs. While the economy around Bury is growing fast, the district remains a low wages area. Saxham Business Park is already an established distribution zone where Christian Salvesen, TTS Tool Technique Systems, Micheldever Tyres, DT Food and Claas Agricultural Machinery all have large units. Quoting rent for the two new units is £5.75 per sq ft while the freeholds are available at £90 per sq ft.
