BRE buys divisions from i&i

The Building Research Establishment (BRE) in Hertfordshire has acquired two specialist business divisions of i&i limited, Europe’s leading intelligent building consultancy. The acquisition brings two important service areas into BRE – intelligent building systems consultancy and the world-renowned Centre of Excellence for Intelligent Building (ibexcellence) – both in Watford. BRE chief executive, Dr Peter Bonfield, said the acquisition would complement and strengthen the company’s research and consultancy services, setting it up to become a global leader in the field. He said: “This acquisition will further enable us to provide our clients with a range of new services focused on exploiting the impact of information technologies on the built environment. This integrated approach will support the design and delivery of better performing buildings and communities in the 21st century.” BRE is part of the BRE Trust, a charitable company, which aims to advance knowledge, innovation and communication across the entire built environment for public benefit.
