New joint venture announces first contract success
Written by Lautaro Vargas
Wednesday, 16 April 2008
A new joint venture between Norfolk-based offshore oil and gas specialist, Acteon, and UAE firm FAL International LLC, has already announced its first contract win. TEAM Energy Resources Middle East LLC, has landed a deal to provide personnel to an unnamed Qatari drilling contractor.

The joint venture has formed a Qatari limited liability company that will follow the operational lead of TEAM Energy Resources Ltd, an Acteon subsidiary based in the UK.

TEAM Energy Resources is a leading international provider of manpower services to the subsea, inspection, construction, marine and drilling sectors with a long-established reputation of attracting leading industry professionals.

TEAM Energy Resources Middle East will join its UK counterpart in providing key personnel to the global offshore oil and gas market and will facilitate cross-selling of services and provide much broader solutions, particularly in the fields of maintenance, production and drilling.

The joint venture follows the merger of Aquatic Engineering & Construction’s manpower division – previously sponsored by FAL International – with TEAM Energy as a consequence of Aquatic’s takeover by Acteon in 2006.

“The Doha office provides offshore production personnel and has vast experience of the logistics involved in providing work crews, whereas TEAM in the UK focuses on drilling personnel and supervisors,” said George Highmoor, general manager for TEAM Energy Resources.

David Milner will be managing TEAM Energy Resources Middle East LLC and will report to George Highmoor. Acteon will continue to operate the powered reeling systems for the laying and retrieval of pipes and umbilicals under the existing Aquatic Engineering & Construction brand.

Through subsidiaries such as 2H Offshore, InterMoor, UWG and Seatronics, Acteon provides the international offshore oil industry with specialised engineering services focused on linking subsea services.

  • Of Budgets and White Papers

The 2008 UK Budget may have been a modest affair, but published with it were two documents with probably greater implications for the long-term performance of the innovation sector in the UK.

Many of you reading through the coverage of Alistair Darling’s first Budget, delivered on 12th March 2008, may have been reminded of Claud Cockburn’s famous (spoof?) entry for the prize of most dull but accurate headline: ‘Small Earthquake in Chile, Not Many Dead’.
