Chelmsford’s e2v technologies, the specialist developer and manufacturer of high technology components and sub-systems, has won a £6.3 million contract with the United States Department of Defense (DoD).

The win is a follow-on contract to that announced in February this year for the supply of defence electronic subsystems, which utilise e2v’s electronic tube technology. Deliveries against this latest contract are scheduled to begin immediately.

e2v chief executive, Keith Attwood, said: “This contract represents the second phase of the DoD’s evaluation of these products and reflects positively on our progress to date. Whilst this particular contract was anticipated, it strengthens our confidence in establishing e2v’s position as a strategic supplier to the DoD.”

e2v’s products fall into two distinct groups: Electronic tubes; and Sensors and Semiconductors. They enable some of the world’s leading OEMs to deliver innovative systems for medical and science, aerospace and defence, and commercial and industrial applications.
