Potential collaborations between East of England biotech companies and counterparts in eastern Europe were teed up as a Lithuanian biotech delegation visited Chesterford Research Park.

Hosted by Martin Sylvester of Churchmanor Estates, joint developers of Chesterford Research Park, and Rowan Gardner, director of life science business advisers BioLauncher, the visit gave delegates an insight into developing a successful R & D location and building connections with some of the region's best companies.

They also learned about UK innovations in biotech and nanotechnology, shared their experience of the biotech cluster in Lithuania and sought possible partners for collaboration.

The Lithuanian biotech sector is regarded as one of the leaders in central and eastern Europe. Located mainly in Vilnius, it has a strong position in genetic engineering and pharmaceutical production, as well as production of biochemical and chemical agents for genetic engineering.
