Autonomy has followed the announcement of deals with two of the world’s most recognisable brands in their respective fields with a trading update that reported Q2 results for 2008 are expected to be well ahead of market expectations.

The Cambridge-based enterprise infrastructure software innovator said record second quarter revenues are expected at between $122m and $125m for the period as opposed to analyst consensus revenue estimates of $118m.

Group chief executive, Dr Mike Lynch, said the deals were achieved without recognising the significant revenues of recently announced banking deals, including a $85m deal less than two weeks ago, which was followed by Autonomy’s largest pharma deal to date, a $20m contract with Eli Lily.

Autonomy also announced it had struck further deals for the license of its software with media giant, Fox Entertainment Group, and internet shopping phenomenon, eBay.

“We are pleased to see such strong trading in our business, with success across the broad spectrum of the application of our IDOL technology,” said Dr Lynch. “We look forward to providing commentary on current trading and prospects at the time of announcement of the second quarter results.”

The firm’s industry innovative technology forms a conceptual and contextual understanding of any piece of electronic data including unstructured information, be it text, email, voice or video.

Recognised by many as the clear leader in enterprise search, business is surging as tighter corporate regulations are introduced, particularly in the banking sector.

Its customer base comprises of more than 17,000 global companies and organisations including: ABN AMRO, AOL, BAE Systems, BBC, Boeing, Coca Cola, Daimler Chrysler, Ericsson, Ford, GlaxoSmithKline, NASA, Nestle, Shell and the US Department of Homeland Security.
