Ipswich based law firm Birketts LLP topped the £16 million fee income level for the first time in its 140-year history for the year ending May 2008.
Birketts, which has offices in Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, currently boasts over 275 staff and is rapidly growing, with the Norwich office hoping to move into new premises at the Whitefriars site by the end of the year.
CEO Alistair Lang said: “It was a strong year for the firm across all divisions. In addition to generating fees and creating new jobs in the established Ipswich and Norwich offices, we have looked west and opened our Cambridge office with an eye to continued growth.
“At the strategic level we want to be the dominant firm in the East of England region; we recognise we are not there yet and more work is needed but we believe the marketplace increasingly appreciates our style and our value.
“We are cautiously optimistic for the future in the short term and ambitious in the medium term. And who knows what the next five years will offer by way of opportunity for expanding our reach?”
