A positive reaction from retailers to the latest range of lightweight electric bikes from Harlow electrical goods specialist, Ultima Networks, drove the company’s share price up almost 14 per cent.

Ultima said that interest from retailers during pre-marketing of its new Infineum range of high-end electric bikes had been buoyant and it expects that the range will lead to a significant contribution to sales in the Products Division during 2009.

Only last month Ultima reported that an unexpected clamour for electric bicycles had seen demand exceed expectations, generating a 20 per cent revenues increase for the first six months of 2008 over H1 2007, pushing its then share price up 8.6 per cent.

Featuring new, high performance, patented technology, Utlima expects that the launch of the Infineum range will have a positive impact on sales flow as new customers are attracted and existing customers upgrade to the new models.

The bikes carry a discrete and quiet motor in the front hub and a unique patented stackable battery system on the rear rack, which allows for more travel distance on a single charge as extra batteries are stacked on. Share price rose 0.23p to 1.93p, up 13 per cent.
