East of England Business Awards - 2009 entrants

Eagle Genomics Ltd has entered the Killer Technologies category and the bioinformatics IT consultancy, based at Babraham Research Campus, is making encouraging progress.

Eagle Genomics was only incorporated in May 2008 and after just 18 months activity - without any external investment -  has been able to extend its customer base to sustain the salaries of four, full time employees as well as attract key executives to its board.

This is also enough to support Eagle's marketing and sales activities and the company expects to finish the 2009-10 financial year with over 30 per cent revenue growth.

One focus is the development of a data workflow management system specialising on genomic data analysis. The system for which it has a working prototype and which is already used to help customers, is based on virtualisation and cloud computing technologies.
